Regional planning

Regional land use planning directs land use in the region and provides guidelines for it throughout the region. Regional planning takes account of national goals and combines them with regional and local goals related to land use. The regional land use plan is a general plan for land use in the region. It sets out principles for land use and community structure as well as designates areas necessary for developing the region. The regional land use plan consists of the planning map and the related planning symbols and regulations. The plan report linked with the planning map specifies and complements the map and its symbols and regulations. Among others, the report describes the goals of the plan, the key phases of the planning process as well as the implementation of the regional land use plan.
